Workshop Description

Kinderdijk is one of the Netherlands’ most iconic landscapes and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, renowned for its historic windmills, picturesque canals, and timeless Dutch scenery. Throughout the workshop, we’ll explore how to transform this unique landscape into compelling photographs by developing a strong eye for composition, light, and visual storytelling rather than simply documenting the scene.

This workshop focuses on the creative foundations of landscape photography, with particular attention to composition, perspective, balance, reflections, and the effective use of natural light. You’ll learn how to create strong foregrounds, work with leading lines formed by canals and dikes, and use the historic windmills to build powerful and balanced compositions. Whether capturing sweeping panoramic views with a wide-angle lens or isolating architectural details with a telephoto lens, you’ll discover new ways to photograph this iconic location.

During the workshop, I provide personal guidance tailored to your experience level. Together we’ll analyse locations, discuss camera settings, and refine your compositions before pressing the shutter. Rather than simply taking you to beautiful viewpoints, my goal is to help you understand why a composition works, allowing you to confidently apply these techniques wherever your photography takes you.

We will also discuss the creative use of photographic filters. Although filters are not required, they are extremely useful for long-exposure photography, helping you create smooth reflections, soften moving clouds, and balance the light during sunrise or sunset. I will demonstrate a range of Kase Filters and explain when and how they can enhance your landscape photography. As an official Kase Filters Ambassador, I’ll be happy to answer any questions about filter techniques and their practical applications.

A sturdy tripod is strongly recommended, as many of the best images rely on precise compositions and longer shutter speeds.

This workshop is suitable for photographers with a wide range of experience, from enthusiastic beginners to advanced photographers. Participants should be familiar with the basic operation of their own camera so that the focus can remain on creativity, technique, and developing a stronger photographic vision.

The workshop date and starting time are determined in consultation with the participants to ensure the best possible light and weather conditions. Together, we’ll create a tailor-made photography experience at one of the Netherlands’ most iconic landscape photography locations.
